In Canon 5D Mark II Firmware 2.0.4 Bug post, I share a firmware bug confirmed by 5D2Team. But there are some opposition view. Today I find two video in Yourtube, which is a good example about Canon 5D Mark II Firmware 2.0.4 Bug.
Let’s description the bug step by step. The Canon 5D Mark II in video Configured Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro USM lens.
Sorry for the poor quality, it was recorded with a P&S camera in “macro” mode.
1-These settings are the correct ones to have “full manual control” on movie/video mode. So the IRIS shifting should NOT happen in this situation, and in fact it does not happen in firmware version 1.1.0.
2- This video doesn’t show the IRIS shifting so clearly as when you see the LCD by yourself, but you can notice the iris changes if you watch it carefully.
3- Please note that the aperture is always kept at the same value (F/3.2). In this video we only changed focus. You can also see below Video which shows what can be seen on the camera’s LCD monitor during this process:
May you want to say the reason is Canon digital camera, not Firmware 2.0.4 Bug. But author have received some reports about 3rd party lenses having similar problems (“weird noises” coming from the iris) and/or iris/diaphragm inconsistencies experienced with firmware 2.0.4. Other lenses may suffer this issue too.
How about your Canon EOS 5D Mark II?
